talk money week: 4 - 8 november 2024
Do One Thing
We’re delighted to be joining the Money and Pensions Service and many other organisations and groups across the UK to highlight some quick, easy actions which all of us can take to improve our financial wellbeing.
The theme of this year’s campaign is #DoOneThing, and that’s what we’d encourage everyone to try – or more than one if you prefer!
Monday 4 November
Keep a 7-day spending diary
…and we mean an honest one, not details of what you think you should be spending! Writing down everything you spend, whether on cash, card or bank transfer, can help you to analyse your spending patterns and see where it all goes.
TUESday 5 NOVember
Check your invisible spending
Try Money Saving Expert’s Demotivator tool to help you calculate how much you spend on an ‘invisible’ purchase you make regularly. Want to reduce that spending? Check out our blog post on changing your habits for some ideas.
WEDSday 6 NOVember
Check out our online Budget Builder tool
Today’s challenge is to create a free Budget Builder account. Our online tool allows you to create your budget, track live spending and add household members – and best of all, it does all the maths for you!
THURSDAY 7 November
Reduce your food spend
Check out our list of ideas for reducing the cost of your food shopping and see how much that saves you. Can you really tell the difference between those brands of ketchup…or biscuit…?!
FRIDAY 8 NOVEMBER
Join one of our money skills workshops
if you #DoOneThing today, make it signing up for a place on one of our free money skills workshops. You can choose from our Cost of Living Toolkit or our full Money Course – or if you work in a role where you support others, you might find our Financial First Aid workshop helpful. We’d love to see you there!
